Broadbeach Set to Benefit from Light Rail

Commuting within the Gold Coast community of Broadbeach is set to become even easier in 2014.

Two new light rail G:link trams have arrived on the Coast, ready for their trial period before passenger services begin midway through next year. The trams will be able to hold more than 300 people, delivering them every seven and a half minutes to popular locations around the Gold Coast.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Scott Emerson anticipates the light rail system will provide an attractive travel option for people within the Southport, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach areas, and believes travelling via tram can be more time efficient than driving.

Owners and occupiers of Broadbeach real estate will benefit from the new public transport system as it will provide them with an environmentally friendly travel solution for their regular commuting requirements.

The $1.2 billion project will likely increase employment in the area as well. Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate says the project has already created thousands of jobs in the Gold Coast region, which is good news for anyone looking to sell residential property in the Gold Coast. 

The first stage of the 13-km project will service Griffith University and the new Gold Coast University Hospital.
