Energy minister to hear needs of Gold Coast

Those who own Gold Coast property may be interested to hear that the Queensland energy minister will be touring the area to listen to the issues in his portfolio.

Mark McArdle will be visiting the Gold Coast City Council towards the end of the month to hear about the concerns of locals in relation to water and energy supply under the purview of his jurisdiction.

Mr McArdle said he is looking forward to talking to local mayors, such as Tom Tate, regarding what they feel is needed in the energy sector.

Securing the future prosperity of areas like the Gold Coast is crucial, he said, and reliable utilities are a part of that plan.

He commented: "That is why my department is developing 30-year plans for the delivery of these essential services.

"During our meetings, I will encourage regional councils to contribute to the Queensland Water Sector Discussion Paper and the Energy Directions Paper, both available on the Department of Energy and Water Supply's website: www.dews.qld.gov.au."

He will be visiting the Gold Coast City Council on January 30 as part of his tour through a number of councils in Queensland's south east.
