Gold Coast Beaches Up For Discussion
Owners of Gold Coast property are among those being asked for their thoughts on what commercial activities should be available along the beachfront.
As acting mayor Donna Gates pointed out, there are various opinions on what should be made available in the area – and now locals are being given the opportunity to have their say.
She explained that beaches along the Gold Coast are the number one attraction and that people use them in quite different ways.
"We need to ensure that these diverse experiences are available to everyone, no matter what their background, their income, their age or their physical ability," noted councillor Gates.
This strategy has been billed as an opportunity to explore new ways of using the beach, as people living in residential property in the Gold Coast and visitors are asked to make their comments.
The community consultation phase will be open until May 3 and views can be aired through an online survey, an online discussion forum or through speaking in person at one of the information sessions.
These sessions will be held at Lionel Perry Park in Surfers Paradise on April 21 and Palm Beach Parklands on April 27.
