Gold Coast program shows area’s caring side

The Gold Coast and Broadbeach are more than just idyllic places where one can wile away the hours. They're also areas that care about their communities and residents. 

That's why the city of Gold Coast is trialling a new homelessness project, which will involve professionals going out to identify and provide assistance to vulnerable people. This includes at-risk youth, women escaping domestic violence, the elderly and people with mental or other health conditions.

It's yet another reminder of why people with Gold Coast property are so fond of the community they live in. 

The program will be known as the Gold Coast Housing Assistance Triage Service, or Gold Coast HATS. 

"Gold Coast HATS will use a triage approach, to prioritise and rapidly match homeless people in the Gold Coast region to the housing and support services they need," said Housing Minister Tim Mander in a 27 June release.

"More than $1.4million will be dedicated to making this project a reality over the next 15 months, part of our strong plan that will give hundreds of vulnerable people a brighter future."

It's not surprising that so many are seeking apartments in Broadbeach to become part of this socially-conscious, tight-knit community.
