Hockey Centre coming to the Gold Coast
If you're a Broadbeach resident, there's a good chance that you're a sports fanatic. Then again, if you're an Australian in general, there's a probably a strong chance you love your sport!
But the Gold Coast, with its miles of beaches and beautiful hot weather, seems tailor-made for sports enthusiasts. Not only do you have the chance to go jogging and swimming at your leisure, but you also need to keep fit if you want to take that beach body outside in the sun.
So any sports fans who also happen to double as owners of Gold Coast property will be pleased to hear about the hockey centre upgrade coming to Keith Hunt park. It's the latest in a line of exciting sports-related projects that are at the design stage: The Carrara Sports Precinct and the Coomera Sports and Leisure Centre.
But why all this construction of sporting facilities? The answer is simple: The steadily approaching Commonwealth Games, which are due to take place in the Gold Coast in 2018.
When the world's eyes fall on the Gold Coast, projects like this will mean it's ready to take on the responsibility, as well as boost the local economy and drive up the value of homes for sale on the Gold Coast.
"The Commonwealth Games will create up to 30,000 jobs and inject $2 billion into our economy," concluded minister for tourism Jann Stuckey.
