QLD Budget Outlines Gold Beach Recreational Funding

Gold Coast property owners may be pleased to hear that the Queensland government has confirmed a number of recreational facilities and amenities are soon to be upgraded in the region.

Already known for being a huge tourism draw in Queensland, the Gold Coast is set to receive a portion of funding from the state government's 2013-14 budget.

Steve Dickson, recreation minister, said the Newman government is keen to expand local ecotourism opportunities, including a $25.8 million investment in the national parks capital works program.

One of these projects is developing improved access and other updates to the visitor centre at David Fleay Wildlife Park.

The park, which houses a variety of native animals and is just a 15-minute drive from Broadbeach real estate, will share a pot of $8.5 million for renovations with other nature reserves in Queensland.

According to Mr Dickson, the Gold Coast Turf Club will also benefit from funding, with the government contributing $4.56 million towards the first phase of its $35.4 million refurbishment.

He stated: "This first stage includes the upgrade of members’ facilities and the construction of a new equine swimming pool."

The racing venue already offers more than a dozen bars, restaurants, bistros and cafes.
