QLD first home buyers to benefit from First Home Owner Construction Grant
Queensland first home buyers – including those who are planning to buy their first house in Broadbeach – will benefit from a generous grant announced in this week's state budget.
The new First Home Owner Construction Grant, which was announced by the Queensland government on September 10th, will allow first home buyers who purchase a property off the plan or buy a newly-constructed home to receive up to $15,000 – a figure that more than doubles the previous $7,000 grant.
State premier Campbell Newman said he hopes that the new grant – which he claims is the "most generous" in Australia – could entice more people to venture into the property market for the first time.
"We want to see more Queenslanders buying their first home and this grant will certainly give home buyers a great head start," he said.
The Queensland 2012-13 budget also aims to provide additional financial relief to Gold Coast families in the form of water connection rebates and reductions in public transport fare increases.
Gold Coast property owners will also benefit from principal place of residence concessions, as well as a freeze on electricity tariffs.
