Touring concerts will make their way to the Gold Coast

Around 400 years ago, Shakespare wrote the immortal words: "If music be the food of love, play on." You've got to admit he might have had a point. There's something about musical events – the fun and excitement, the way they bring people together, the music itself of course – that is simply good for the soul. 

That's why those with residential property on the Gold Coast are in a particularly good position. Residents and visitors will see a host of different shows, from Opera Queensland's 'La Boheme' and the Queensland Ballet's performance of 'Cinderella', to Shake & Stir Theatre Company's production of '1984'. 

It's all part of the Playing Queensland Fund in this year's Queensland state budget, which is aiming to produce more performances than ever. As a side benefit, this plan is also set to increase tourism in the region, helping Queensland's economic recovery. So it seems music will be as good for the pocketbook as for the soul.

The amount of regional touring concerts has trebled in the last few years – from 180 in 2011 to 617 in 2013. For those who have been thinking about buying a piece of real estate on the Gold Coast – such as in Broadbeach – this may well be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
