Council Shows Its Support for Gold Coast Beaches

Residents of houses and apartments in Broadbeach will be able to enjoy well-maintained public beaches on the Gold Coast, after the council announced its new Ocean Beaches Strategy this week (August 20).

This is great news for those who live in the area, as the beaches are one of the most attractive features that the Gold Coast has to offer.

The City of Gold Coast's strategy places a focus on protecting and maintaining the beaches in the future and the present – this will be done through coastal management practices such as beach nourishment, seawall construction and other initiatives.

"Our ocean beaches are the city's most precious asset, the key to its identity, character and liveability. They're loved by both Gold Coasters and 11.5 million visitors each year, worth $7.5 billion to our local economy through tourism and surfing," said Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate.

Mr Tate said that once the strategy is set in place, it will allow residents of Gold Coast real estate to continue enjoying the beaches well into the future, while keeping the natural landscapes protected.
