Gold Coast property owners get transport reprieve

Those who own Gold Coast real estate and travel to Brisbane for work may be interested to hear the state government's plan to add more train services between the two destinations.

From January 29, an additional north and south bound train will be added to ease the congestion on one of Queensland's busiest networks.

Transport and main roads minister Scott Emerson said that this is a part of the government's initiative to get more people onto public transport.

The minister commented: "Adding additional services where capacity exists was one of the recommendations of the Independent Panel Review to meet the 2016 capacity crunch caused by eight years of Labor inaction.

"We are delivering Gold Coast commuters an additional morning peak service departing Varsity Lakes at 05:31, arriving at Central at 06:55, as well as an additional evening peak service departing Central at 18:11 and arriving at Varsity Lakes at 19:30."

State member for Coomera Michael Crandon welcomed the move saying that the commute has been difficult for many residents given the high level of congestion.

He added that the morning peak sees 4,000 people use the network so the additional services will help ease transportation.
