Make the most of Gold Coast beaches this summer

One of the many benefits to living in property in Mermaid Waters is that top quality beaches are never too far away – so make sure you get out and enjoy them this summer.

Gold Coast mayor Tom Tate has surveyed the 30 kilometres of coastline and is convinced it's up to the standard residents and visitors would expect.

"It's no easy task looking after Australia's best beaches, and it's a responsibility we take very seriously," said Mr Tate.

"I'd like to thank the many thousands of unsung local heroes who care for our beaches every day of the year."

Duties carried out include picking up litter, while volunteers are on hand to ensure the sand dunes are kept in the best possible condition.

This has been made possible through the Gold Coast council's Ocean Beaches Strategy 2013-2023, which aims to ensure these spaces are kept pristine for everyone who uses them.

Beach users are warned that king tides are expected to arrive around 20 to 23 January, while higher-than-expected tides will emerge prior to and after 23 December and 19 February.

Keeping up to date with the latest information is the only way to stay safe while out and about this summer.
