Queensland Winter Racing Carnival Kicks Off In The Gold Coast

Residents of Broadbeach real estate could be in for a treat, with the 2014 Queensland Winter Racing Carnival starting at the Gold Coast Turf Club. Whether you want to bring the kids or just spend a day out with your partner, this event could be a great source of entertainment over the coming months.

Racing Minister Steve Dickson said the event will consist of nine races over the next few weeks through May and June. This is following the Queensland government's $10 million investment to help develop the venue into a better place for patrons, owners and trainers alike.

"The industry provides jobs for 30,000 people and contributes $855 million into the state's economy annually, as well as providing tourism opportunities and social occasions," said Mr Dickson in a May 3 statement.

Mr Dickson continued t say that the tourism industry is "part of our four pillar economy".

"Australia's top owners and trainers know they can significantly improve the prospects of their horses in the spring by racing them in the calibre of races held during the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival."

This could offer a number of opportunities for both entertainment and employment over the coming months, highlighting potential economic growth for those with Gold Coast property in the local region.
