‘Tens of Thousands’ Expected at Broadbeach for Music Festival

Tourism throughout Broadbeach is expected to be given a boost over the coming days, as the area plays host to one of Queensland's most prominent music events.

The annual Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival got underway yesterday (May 23) and will run until May 26.

It is expected that tens of thousands of people will attend throughout the four-day event, with owners of apartments in Broadbeach no doubt among the revellers.

The festival has attracted more acts than ever this year, explained minister for tourism Jann Stuckey, including the likes of Jon Stevens, Vanessa Amorosi, Ian Moss and The Black Sorrows.

She noted that this is the first time the festival has been given major event status from Tourism and Events Queensland, which will only add to its popularity.

"Festival-goers to Blues on Broadbeach this week can enjoy performances on the outdoor stage, and in and around the Broadbeach mall with local restaurants, bars and cafés also playing host to various artists," Ms Stuckey commented.

Blues on Broadbeach has gone from strength to strength since it started 12 years ago and even won the Queensland Tourism Award for Best Festival and Event back in 2011.
